DTFC Installation Guide – Step-by-Step Retrofit in Hours, Not Weeks (No Garage Shutdown Required)
The beauty of the DTFC lies not only in its performance but in how quickly and cleanly it installs. Unlike welded or bolted repairs that require heavy equipment and lane closures, the DTFC retrofit is a precision, low-impact process that fits between parked cars.
Installation Sequence
- Assessment & Layout
Measure flange thickness (A & B), width (C), vertical offset (D ≤ 3/8″ standard), and ramp angles. Use the NSC DTFC Checklist to order standard or custom plates. - Anchor Installation
Drill and epoxy post-installed anchors into the double-tee stems — no core drilling through the flange. - Assemble & Position DTFC
Pre-assemble the flexible plates with spacer bar. Slide into the joint gap. The patented geometry provides built-in flexibility for both in-plane and out-of-plane movement. - Final Welding & Torque
Minimal field welds (1¼″ each side) using standard AWS D1.1 procedures. Torque bolts to spec. Total time per connection: under 30 minutes. - Quality Control
Visual inspection plus optional pull testing. The garage remains fully operational throughout.
The result? A connection that lasts decades instead of years — all while tenants keep parking.
Pro Tip: For ramps or tapered flanges, note requirements on your order form for custom long-slotted holes or shim plates.
